Why the Association of British Columbia Snowmobile Clubs?

ABCSC was incorporated on October 19th. 2006 in the province of British Columbia.

ABCSC came into being at the request of a large number of organized snowmobilers who were seeking an option to what was currently available to them in the province.

ABCSC has flourished.

• Membership in a number of our clubs has shown increased growth. A number of new clubs have joined the ABCSC family.
• ABCSC has represented our members, and others, on a number of fronts including the SaRCO process to preserve Mountain Caribou Habitat.
• The development of alliances with other associations such as working toward establishing Stewardship Guidelines for recreational snowmobiling and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts, at the provincial level.
• The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministries of Agriculture and Lands, Environment and Tourism, Sport and the Arts, which allows for input on future land restrictions and/or closures pertaining to the preservation of Mountain Caribou Habitat.
• The signing of Stewardship Management Agreements, (SMA's),  in areas affecting some of our clubs.
• ABCSC has designed information brochures relating to Snowmobiling in Mountain Caribou Habitat as well as basic Backcountry Stewardship Guidelines, Avalanche Awareness and Club promotional material as part of our comprehensive outreach program. Included in this are a number of PowerPoint presentations and our comprehensive Safe Operators Training Program.
• We have developed this website and a large number of others for individual clubs, to inform our members, as well as other interested parties, and thes websites are updated regularly, and contain a great deal of useful information to the snowmobile community. Thia website also contains a Discussion Forum, where you can interact with others who have the same interests.
• We have partnered with a number of organizations to share information and to work together in an open and cooperative manner to best represent the interests of our membership.
• ABCSC, in concert with the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities has developed a fundraising program to "Give Children Abilities". This program is called "WINTERFEST"!

The above list is only a very small small sample of the many services and programs developed by ABCSC for their members. The 2008/2009 season is looking to be BETTER YET and we will be working closely with all of our clubs to insure snowmobiling remains fun!

It is our intent to continue building working relationships and assisting our membership wherever and whenever we can. You need simply ask!
